About the Role
Datadog is hiring a Backend Engineer to work on our core observability platform. You'll build and optimize high-throughput data pipelines that ingest, process, and store billions of events per day. This is a systems-heavy role ideal for engineers passionate about performance, reliability, and distributed systems.
What You'll Do
- •Design and build backend services for our observability pipeline
- •Optimize data ingestion and query performance at scale
- •Collaborate with other engineering teams on platform improvements
- •Write Go and Python services that handle massive data volumes
- •Participate in on-call rotations and incident response
- •Contribute to open-source projects where appropriate
What We're Looking For
- •5+ years of backend engineering experience
- •Strong proficiency in Go, Python, or Java
- •Experience with distributed systems and high-throughput data pipelines
- •Familiarity with Kafka, Elasticsearch, or similar technologies
- •Understanding of observability concepts (metrics, traces, logs)
- •BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
